Deep Woods is a relative newcomer to the Margaret River. While the likes of Vasse Felix, Cullen and Moss Wood have been in the region since the early days, Deep Woods was founded more recently in 1987 in the Yallingup Hills in the northern-most part of Margaret River with plantings of typical grape varieties for the region, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Shiraz and Verdelho. Yallingup’s proximity to the ocean at its northern edge makes more elegant Margaret River styles - wines enjoyed for their finesse over raw power.

Recent years have seen the reputation of Deep Woods rising rapidly, thanks to the efforts of Chief Winemaker Julian Langworthy who has won numerous awards, particularly for the Reserve Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Langworthy has a super sharp palate and intellect that sees him make crowd pleasing styles that also are well regarded by wine judges around the country.

The Reserve wines are classic Margaret River styles showcasing the special climate in Margaret River that allows it to create exceptional wines with these varieties. Deep Woods also, unusually for the region, produces quality Shiraz that are spicy and subtle, as well as a pretty Rose, again showing the talents and flexibility of winemaker Julian Langworthy.
