This sophisticated rosé sparkling boasts alluring complexity and a vibrant character. It's moderate salmon-pink in colour with a hint of crimson and a lively yet fine, persistent bead. JAMES HALLIDAY - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION
First fermentation 92% in stainless steel, 8% in new French barriques; disgorged Dec '17. It immediately proclaims its class; the flowery/spicy/biscuity bouquet translates directly into the elegant, finely detailed palate. The flavours seem airborne in the mouth before landing on and driving the long finish.
MIKE BENNIE - THE WINE FRONT
Touch of chardonnay in the mix, but it is mostly pinot. The style is decidedly set to savoury, and a far cry from expected pink, fruity sparkling wines. Pale coloured rose, almost gold, just the faintest blush of pink – I like the idea as it suggests savoury as a style. And it starts assertively savoury, shortbread, toast, cinnamon spice, faint Iced Vovo sweetness and a whiff of strawberry. Creamy and rich in texture, fleshy, touches of cinnamon spice over freeze dried strawberry flavours, faint clove, mixed nut flavours, succulent and lightly chalky, seamless and complex. A lavish mouthful of very serious, very delicious, very excellent rose.
Medium salmon-pink colour with substantial development. The bouquet is very complex, slightly sulfidic but also layered with lots of smoky pinot, quince paste and strawberry as well as charcuterie, the finish powering on and on with refinement and cleansing grip. Excellent.
