  • Piper Heidsieck has undergone significant improvements over the past 6 years under the new ownership and direction of awarded winemaker Regis Camus at the helm. Lower production quantities and increased quality make this a great value champagne.

Each Piper-Heidsieck Vintage champagne creation is unique. The generous and crystalline Vintage 2008 offers an outstanding take on the traditional balance between subtly ripened Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs, from 18 different crus. Unique in character, this wine is refined by extended ageing.

18 crus were selected for this wine, primarily from Premier and Grands Crus. The Pinot Noir came from the Montagne de Reims area and gives the champagne the perfect structure and balance. The Chardonnay fruit came from Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims areas and gives the wine elegance and personality. With the ever so slight focus on Chardonnay in this blend and the unique character in the chosen parcels, they will mature well while retaining a youthful, fresh appeal.

Assemblage: 52% Chardonnay, 48% Pinot Noir, 2008 vintage.
    Disgorged: 2017
    Dosage: 9.5g/L
    Time on lees: 96 months

Delicate notes of ripe peach and greengage, coupled with cherry blossom and hawthorn. The palate is velvety, yet fresh. Ripe fruits flow through to a long finish highlighted by peppery spice and plum notes, and a subtle saltiness.

'Bright, medium yellow colour with a strongly toasty bouquet, even a trace of slightly burnt-toast. The palate is full and rich and strong, with big, mouthfilling flavour and real generosity. This is a superb full-bodied wine, and it finishes very dry and cleansing. Long and satisfying. A good food wine - it has real palate strength and backbone.'

'The 2008 Vintage Brut offers a clear and toasty aroma on the nose. Pure, fresh, lean and delicate but complex and mineral on the palate, this is a lithe and elegant, very finessed and persistent 2008 with grip and expression. This is a complex, intense yet light and very elegant Champagne with a pure, mineral-structured and persistent finish.'
94 Points - Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

'Rich with noteworthy complexity and lovely red apple and ripe lemon fruit. Nice toastiness to the palate overlaid with nuts and brioche.'
93 Points - Decanter World Wine Awards

'Gently reductive toasty nuances are cast against lemon pastry and spiced apple fruits. The palate is bold. This delivers some handy ripeness that is nicely cut with fresh '08 acidity.'
