In its 160 years of history, Pol Roger has carved out one of the best reputations in the select circle of the leading Champagne brands. This recognition is the fruit of the firm's unwavering dedication to two essential values: excellence and independence. Each of the wines which bears the Pol Roger name is treated as an impeccable ambassador of its history. For five generations, the family's descendants have been equally demanding; remaining loyal to the strategy initiated from the very beginning by the firm's founder. Excellence means the rigorous selection of the vinegrowers the firm works with, but also by strict selection of the grapes bought from them. Family members keep a close eye on all aspects of the operations, including details of the vinification; it also means that the family, in complete independence, chooses the blends which will become the final wines. Excellence and independence are closely linked. One guarantees the continuing existence of the other and vice versa
HUON HOOKE - THE REAL REVIEW
Medium to full salmon-pink with a purple tinge. The bouquet is clean, discreet and evokes quince paste and raspberries, the palate full-flavoured and rich, intense and creamy-textured with red-fruit flavours as well as quince paste and rosewater. The shape is rounded and yet fine with good line and length. The finish is clean and relatively dry.
STEPHEN REINHARDT - WINE ADVOCATE
Blending 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay with 15% Pinot Noir red wine from the Montagne de Reims, Pol Roger's 2009 Vintage Brut Rosé displays an intense salmon/onion color and a rich, vinous bouquet of red berries and cherries that come along as ripe and dried fruit flavors. Full-bodied, round and dry, with very fine tannins giving a firm, refreshing and grippy structure framing body and the intense fruit, this is an elegant, fresh and finessed rosé with a delicate Pinot character on the finish. Aged for seven years on the second lees, the 2009 reveals good length and structure and is a serious gastronomic rosé. The lot number L81452849E displayed on the packaging note is illegible on the bottle. Tasted July 2018.
