  • An absolute Mystery wine of icon proportions. Supplied in a highly decorative wooden case.

Ancient old vine Cabernet, from a single-vineyard in the high reaches of the Eden Valley, this now 8 year old wine is one of the finest examples of the varietal found anywhere in South Australia.

Produced by an industry legend, and a household name to boot, this wine is a monster; with an epic reach of tannin, blackcurrant, boysenberry, bay leaf, earth and rich mocha, you are bound to illicit some amazing reaction from friends and family alike when you tell them how much you paid for this wine.

Normally retailing for $97 a bottle, this is your chance to capture one of the quintessential wines from the beating heart of Australia, for a price that will not often be repeated. With 95 points from Huon Hooke (who has it ranked as his No. 1 Cabernet from the Barossa in 2010), 95 from James Halliday, 92 from Lisa Perotti-Brown and 92 from Campbell Mattinson, this is certainly one of the best Cabernet deals around at the moment.

The wine underwent traditional fermentation in open stainless steel static fermenters for eight days, with a portion of fruit left on skins to undergo extended maceration to develop its structure and longevity. The balance underwent primary and malolactic fermentation in French oak, and then matured in new and two year old oak for a further 21 months. It has spent 4 years in bottle before its release.

    Presentation Style Case. Under Cork.

The 2010 Mystery Icon Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is deep inky purple in colour and shows concentrated aromas of blackcurrant, dark chocolate and eucalypt with hints of mint and vanilla bean. The palate is full bodied with spicy berry fruit and liquorice characters. The rich mid-palate is followed by fine tannins and exceptional length.
