'Seven years of age has built captivating layers of butterscotch, brioche, vanilla and glace fig. It pulls seamlessly into a vibrant and honed tail of bright southern Tasmanian acidity, perfectly balanced by intimately integrated dosage.'
95 Points, Tyson Stelzer
  • The Frogmore Creek vineyards were founded around the principles of sustainable farming practises. The site for Frogmore Creek was chosen due to it's suitability to growing great Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay.

The Frogmore Creek vineyard is located at Penna which is 30 minutes drive from the city of Hobart in Southern Tasmania. Critical climate indicators such as rainfall, temperature, sunshine hours and number of rain days combine in perfect balance to create an ideal natural environment for growing premium quality grapes.

The property is 316 acres with 81 acres suitable for vines. The remaining land accommodates grazing, animals, dams and a large portion (almost 80 acres) are set aside for conservation projects. The current varietals include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio.

Frogmore Creek aims to maintain and nurture a biologically diverse environment for the health of the vines and resident fauna. By utilising sustainable farming methods the waterways will remain a safe place for frogs, fish and birds. Since the first vines were planted and the dams established, four species of frogs have made the Frogmore Creek vineyard their home.

    WINEMAKING NOTES

    Region - Coal River Valley
    Alc/Vol - 12%
Winemaker - Alain Rousseau & John Brown

The base wine was whole bunch pressed to retain fruit delicacy and then aged and blended prior to tirage.  Minimum 18-months of aging on lees before disgorging with special dosage to retain complexity yet revitalise the palate.

  • Australian Sparkling Wine  of the Year under $50 - Tyson Stelzer's Australian Sparkling Report 2017

'New name, same incredible wine. Last year's winner of my Sparkling Wine of the Year under $50 has returned for an encore in the next vintage. Pinot noir declares its grand 88% presence in a full straw yellow hue and dramatic brush strokes of deep red cherry and mirabelle plum fruit. Seven years of age has built captivating layers of butterscotch, brioche, vanilla and glacé fig. Yet for all of its complexity and succulent richness, it pulls seamlessly into a vibrant and honed tail of bright southern Tasmanian acidity, perfectly balanced by intimately integrated dosage. It exudes persistence, stamina and sheer jubilation. Drink 2017-2020.
