Pipe tobacco, fragrant blue flower, baking spice and a whiff of new leather aromas lead the way. On the bright medium bodied palate, a network of firm polished tannins and vibrant acidity balances tart sour cherry, strawberry and white pepper. A hint of star anise lingers on the close. 92 points Wine Enthusiast, 92 Vinous
Querce Bettina is a family owned and run farm on the southwest slopes of Montalcino at an altitude of around 440m above sea level. Husband and Wife team Sandra Barenghi and Roberto Moretti bought the 29ha estate in 1990 and following years of research into the terrain they planted 2.4ha of precious Sangiovese in 1999.
Their aim from the start was to create two exceptional wines:
Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, and this was realised in 2009 when the Querce Bettina wines were first released.
They have subsequently developed their range releasing limited quantities of Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG in exceptional years and an IGT Toscana as well.
