Delightful combination of fresh cut grass, water cress, savoury and vanillin oak aromas. Deep, rich and vibrant fruit and mineral flavours. Very complex, integrated and long and supplied with a great acid drive. A great example of this wine style.
On the advice of eminent agronomist Dr. John Gladstones, Dr. Kevin and Diana Cullen planted a trial acre of vines at Wilyabrup, Margaret River in 1966. Commencing in 1971, 18 acres of vines were planted on their sheep and cattle farm, including their first Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc were planted between 1976 and 1978.

A breathtakingly youthful blend with a purity that defies its recipe. Refreshingly understated elegance for an almost three-quarters majority of sauvignon blanc matured in close to two-thirds new French oak. Subtle hazelnut complexity leaves the focus to fragrant citrus, delicate spice and mineral texture.
Bright, sleek and distinctive, with a fresh hay note running through the lime and green apple flavors, lingering pleasantly. Drink now through 2018. 300 cases imported.
Extremely taut and lean, with a very reserved and lightly herbal bouquet of lychees and vanilla oak plus a long, austere palate whose core of pithy, lemony fruit extends towards a finish of exceptional tightness and acidity. It has plenty of length but has been harvested so early it’s hard to determine whether or not it has the depth of flavour for much will develop with time in the bottle.

From a lower alcohol vintage, the 2012 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon Cullen Vineyard is very citrusy on the nose, with green apple and mowed grass notes, as well as dried herbs and a waft of chalk. This steely 2012 is light, youthful and pleasantly tart, although less textured and intense than the 2013 and 2014 vintages.

73% Sauvignon Blanc, 27% Semillon. All the Sauvignon Blanc is barrel fermented and aged 6 months in oak, 2/3 new.A little creamy from the oak but it is the purity of fruit that shows through. Slight limey note, creamy citrus on the palate. Fuller in the mouth but long and very fresh. Hint of coconut and then really intense lime on the finish. Lots more complexity to come. Score: 17/20
