  • THE BRIEF
  • Heirloom Vineyards was conceived in vintage 2000, when a young winemaking student caught the eye of a wine judge. A love story ensued inspired by two vows: To preserve the best of tradition, the old world of wine and our unique old vineyards and to champion the best clones of each variety planted in the most appropriate sites embracing the principals of organic and biodynamic farming. Seven long vintages of trial and error passed before Heirloom Vineyards could make a wine that was fine enough to pass on to future generations. That is this wine. An extraordinary Shiraz from the Eden Valley that will cellar well – 10, 20, 30+ or more years, but is so deliciously perfect now any argument for delayed gratification is almost academic.

  • THE FINER DETAILS
  • This Heirloom Vineyards Eden Valley Shiraz was produced from our best Eden Valley Shiraz Vineyard whose clones and viticulture embody the very best in cutting edge but old school viticulture and winemaking. Hand tended vines, sorted bunch-by-bunch, naturally open fermented, basket pressed and stored in French oak barriques from bespoke coopers.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

This Heirloom Vineyards Eden Valley Shiraz has lifted red fruit signature of Eden Shiraz, but its site also offers some very unique and distinctive aromas of blackberry and intriguing notes of a spice, and the perfume of blueberries. The palate is cool, fresh and lightly, but persistently fruity and very zingy. The finish is fine, natural and unforced. This is a masterful essay in winemaking and sense of place. It’s a delicious, confident drink. The palate is cool, fresh and lightly, but persistently fruity and very zingy. The finish is fine, natural and unforced. This is a masterful essay in winemaking and sens of place. It’s a delicious, confident drink. There is some cream and spice from the French Oak but it’s all about the pure fruit.

JAMES HALLIDAY - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION

It is the structure, texture and precise finish of this wine that sees you coming back for more. Blackberry, licorice, anise, a touch of tar and dried herbs - the palate sings with a myriad of flavours and fine, savoury tannins driving the length.'

    JAMES SUCKLING

There's a savory wrap of spices framed around the blackberry and red plum fruits. The palate's smoothly rendered, long and even. This has plenty of depth. Drink now or hold. Screw cap.'
