  • 'No Shiraz in Australia has reflected its site and its vintage with more fidelity down the years than Ron Laughton's Jasper Hill, the wine which first sprung a spotlight onto Heathcote.'
    Andrew Jefford, Decanter

'Whether it’s down to this very special rift of dirt or not, these wines are simply incredible.'
    Robert Parker

'The red wines of Jasper Hill are highly regarded and much sought after. As long as vintage conditions allow, these are wonderfully rich and full-flavoured wines. The vineyards are dry- grown and are managed organically.'
    James Halliday

Established in 1975 by Ron and Elva Laughton, Jasper Hill produces some of Australia's most individual and compelling Shirazes. Situated in the Heathcote region of Central Victoria, the estate has been largely responsible for establishing this area as one of Australia's greatest red wine regions.

The 60 acre property comprises three vineyards, two of which are named after Ron and Elva's daughters, Emily and Georgia; all are positioned on ancient Cambrian soils unique to this area. Beyond these exceptional sites, it is the Laughtons' commitment to low yields, dry farming and non-interventionist, biodynamic viticultural practices that place Jasper Hill among Australia's premier producers.

According to winemaker Ron Laughton, 2014 is another classic, of deep crimson colour, intense aromas of red berries and mixed spices that follow through on to the palate , balanced with powerful but already supple tannins and fabulous natural acidity. Delicious - drink any time from now over the next twenty years.

This vintage stock is a perfect example of aged Shiraz that has been cared for and looked after lovingly.

The wines are produced entirely on the estate using organic/biodynamic principles. Inter row mulching and self made organic compost is used to improve soil organic matter. This allows greater bio-diversity in micro flora and fauna, supporting large earthworm populations beneficial for natural soil fertility. Following these principles no synthetic chemicals have ever been applied to the soils or vines. Vines are grown on un-grafted root-stock and non irrigated, expressing flavours and characteristics natural to their variety and terroir. Grown at elevations of 1000 feet the vines benefit from warm days but cool nights, imperative for natural acid retention and structure. None of the wines from Jasper Hill vineyards has even been acid adjusted at any stage. These are natural wines of striking purity.

Medium deep crimson. Minerally almost saline, blackcurrant, roasted walnut, aromas with some liquorice notes. Generously proportioned palate with supple blackcurrant, cola, dark chocolate, roasted walnut flavours, fine looseknit al dente tannins. Finishes chalky, touch sappy firm with plenty of inky length. Drink from 2019-2035.

'Dense, dark, chocolatey and meaty; with assertive fruit and firm tannins.'
    95 Points - Jeremy Oliver

'Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Shiraz Georgia's Paddock gives pronounced black forest cake, prunes and blackberry preserves nose with hints of anise, sandalwood, baking spices and espresso. Packed with full-bodied opulence in the mouth, the tannins are ripe and velvety while the finish is effortlessly harmonious. Love it.'

    94+ Points - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate

'Inky ruby. Highly perfumed aromas of blue fruit and cherry preserves, potpourri, vanilla and candied licorice. Lush and palate-staining but also surprisingly lithe, offering sappy blueberry, cassis and cherry-vanilla flavors and hints of allspice and violet. Dusty tannins sneak up with air and fold steadily into the densely packed fruit, which dominates the long, smooth finish.'
93 points - Josh Raynolds, Vinous

'This distinctive version delivers a bright, juicy, generous mouthful of vibrant cherry and spiced plum flavors, intertwined with fresh earth, pepper and savory details. Offers intensity, persistence and muscular tannins, finishing with a black walnut note'
93 Points - MaryAnn Worobiec, Wine Spectator

'Really youthful, with almost grapy aromas buttressed by mocha and lifted, slightly leafy notes. This is a big wine, marked by thick, chewy tannins on the finish, but they never obscure the flavors of grape skins, tapenade and mocha. Try after 2018.'
