'Big, full-bodied, boisterous Cabernet Sauvignon that has a dense ruby/purple color, notes of underbrush, forest floor, tobacco leaf and oodles of blackcurrants and black cherries, with a touch of woodsmoke. The full-bodied wine hits the palate with a cascade of glycerin, fruit and purity. This is a beauty – dense, rich, and structured, but capable of lasting 20 or more years.'

For more than 75 years, the Martini family winemakers have crafted world-class Cabernet Sauvignon wines from the exceptional vineyards of Sonoma and Napa counties. Louis M. Martini embodied a simple, honest premise: The best grapes make the best wines. Today, Michael Martini, third generation winemaker carries on this tradition at the historic winery in Napa Valley with his range of unforgettable Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
The 2014 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has received high critical praise for its decadent black cherry, black current and blackberry aromas and flavors that weave together with earthy notes of truffle, tobacco and smoky cedar. This expansive wine is dense, rich and well-structured, held together beautifully by assertive tannins that lead into a long, full finish. Its depth and structure give the wine potential to easily age a decade or more.
The grapes were harvested in the early morning to keep the fruit as cool as possible before being destemmed and sent directly to tank. The lots were cold soaked for two to three days until we warmed them up and began fermentation at temperatures ranging from 88°F to 90°F. The wine was pumped over up to three times per day. After daily lot tastings, we determined draining times, which left some Cabernet lots in fermentors for extended maceration. Each lot was evaluated separately as it aged, blended together and placed back into the original barrels to marry together until bottling. This wine was left unfined and aged in a combination of new and used French, American and Hungarian oak for 14 months.
In 2012, we primarily selected our grapes from four esteemed Sonoma County vineyards: Barrelli Creek Ranch, Timber Crest, Scherrer and Monte Rosso. Each of these sites added a unique layer of complexity to the final wine. The 2014 vintage was warmer than the previous few years, resulting in fully ripe, dark fruit flavors in our Cabernet. The fruit translated to finished wine with a terrific balance of acidity and fruit flavor.
Earthy notes of truffle, smoky cedar and dried herbs unfold around this wine’s assertive tannins that will soften with age. Rich, expansive and well-structured with a long, lingering finish, this wine has aging potential of a decade or more.
'The bigger, richer 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley is 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petite Sirah aged 16 months in 50% new French and American casks. This is a bigger wine and close to 2% higher in alcohol at 15.5%. There are 11,000 cases of this big, full-bodied, boisterous Cabernet Sauvignon that has a dense ruby/purple color, notes of underbrush, forest floor, tobacco leaf and oodles of blackcurrants and black cherries, with a touch of woodsmoke. The full-bodied wine hits the palate with a cascade of glycerin, fruit and purity. This is a beauty – dense, rich, and structured, but capable of lasting 20 or more years.'

'Fresh, classic aromas of blackcurrants, mineral sweet liquorice and warm soil. It is very mouthfilling, and has swagger and density. It is packed with fruit and interesting Indian spice notes too.'
