DESCRIPTION
  • Located in the heart of Western Australia’s renowned Margaret River wine region, the Pierro locality, owned and managed by Dr Mike Peterkin, has a viticultural pedigree second to none. Besides making award-winning Chardonnay of distinctive character, Mike also produced the first Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blend in Australia. The Pierro reds are now among the very best in the region.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and a little touch of Cabernet Franc (10%). Hand-picked, hand sorted, gently destemmed and berry sorted. Small, separate –batch ferments. Aged for 12 months in French oak.

  • REVIEWS

'Majestic in its elegance, this is very different to the Reserve. Redcurrant, sage, liquorice and a smidgeon of cedar oak are drawn long and sapid by finely ground chalky tannins and assuaging acidity. A gentle glide across the palate with just enough pucker to keep one coming back. '

'Medium to light red/brick-red colour with a humus, undergrowth kind of bouquet. It's very forward. The wine is soft and savoury, smooth-textured and pleasant in a lighter-framed style. Soft, light tannins. It's very approachable young and an antidote to the more demanding, overpowering styles. '
