'The bouquet is perfumed, the medium-bodied palate with a full array of cassis, redcurrant and blueberry fruits, bay leaf and superfine, but persistent tannins.'

Stella Bella’s five distinctive vineyards are located throughout southern Margaret River. An area of the region chosen for its cool climate and ability to produce elegant, aromatic and medium bodied wines with personality and precision. Their farming practices aim to improve soils and maintain vine health. This gives them the ability to make subtle changes, responding to the season and surrounding environment. Creating fruit that reflects the climate, soil and character of southern Margaret River. In the pursuit of vine balance, they use respectful techniques such as organic fertilisers, mid-row cropping, spring plantings of buckwheat and minimal chemical inputs. All of these practices help with nutrient cycling and encourage beneficial insect species throughout the vineyard.
Margaret River experienced one of its warmest vintages on record, on a par with the very warm 2011 vintage. The red harvest benefitted from mild conditions throughout March and April which enabled tannin and flavour maturity to catch up to the high sugars prior to harvest. This also enabled us to select our picking dates without any weather issues. The reds from this vintage will be recognised for their red berry fruits and soft tannins. Once again the weather gods were on our side for a classic Margaret River vintage.
All the individual vineyard blocks that contributed to this wine were vinified separately. Static fermenters, pump over twice daily and délestage once per day, for the entire ferment. On skins for 15 days then pressed. Plunged once a day post primary ferment. Malolactic fermentation was initiated on skins and completed in oak. Matured in barriques for 17 months. 40% new French, 60% 1 & 2 use French, a mix of Taransaud, St.Martin & Bel Air. Stored at 15 to 17°C. Barrels were tasted individually after 17 months maturation for the blending of our signature Luminosa style, reflecting the very best of the vintage.
With its deep crimson red appearance, the opulence of this wine cannot be understated. A vibrant aroma of redcurrants, blue berries and a hint of cassis. As always with a subtle violet perfume and sweet vanillin from the beautiful French oak. The palate shows an elegant, medium weighted wine with an abundance of redcurrant and cherry fruits, which is supported by cacao powder tannins. This beautiful balance of flavour and fine tannin has a salivating finish that leaves you wanting another glass!
'Bright, clear crimson-purple - quite striking; a wine made without any compromise in the fruit selection or in the vinification, with a long pedigree of prior vintages of high quality. The bouquet is perfumed, the medium-bodied palate with a full array of cassis, redcurrant and blueberry fruits, bay leaf and superfine, but persistent tannins. Oh, and yes, French oak does make a contribution.'

'Deep, bright red/purple hue and an interestingly different spicy berry aroma, dried herbs as well, some toast from oak, but all beautifully melded. The wine is firm and gritty in its texture, with lively acidity and some firmness in the tannins. The palate contains some herbal and almost corn-like flavours, and is quite individual. It's big, rugged and very full-bodied. A long termer.'

'Milk chocolate and violets, redcurrant, cherry and mulberry, vanilla, spice and bay leaf. Medium bodied, fresh and lively, redcurrant and cocoa, fine grainy tannin, a touch of gum leaf perfume, and fine length. Fresh, elegant expression of Margaret River, and very good it is too.'
