DESCRIPTION
  • Crazy good aged Shiraz from the Kalgan River Vineyard by Willoughby Park.

This is a super fragrant, savoury Shiraz, with hints of earth, indian spice and violets.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

The 2014 Kalgan River Shiraz was machine harvested then destemmed/crushed into fermenters where it was cold soaked to extract and retain desirable varietal flavours and aromas. When actively fermenting post inoculation they were pumped over with aeration twice a day, temperature was held around 25°C to prevent over extraction of tannins locked in the skins. Maceration was not extended due to the same reason. The wine was then transferred in barrel for malolactic fermentation allowing a soft integration of the grape and Oak tannins. The wine was fined with egg whites then bottled after 18 months barrel maturation.

    ALCOHOL - 13.5%

    TASTING NOTES

Deep red with a purple hue. The nose is lifted dark berries, plum and subtle white pepper. Medium bodied with complex dark fruits, earthiness and spice with subtle toasty oak. The palate is full and fleshy, framed by fine chewy tannins with a firm finish and great length
