The Abbey Vale Vineyard is situated in the Yallingup Hills in the northern corner of Margaret River. Planted in 1985, the vines are situated about 120m above sea level on gravelly soil and benefit from cooling summer breezes from the Indian and Southern Oceans. These conditions combined with the maritime climate help produce beautiful red wines that are finely structures, elegant and full of flavour.
The wine was hand-crafted by Julian Langworthy, winner of the 2016 Jimmy Watson trophy.
'This is a supermely drinkable wine that showcases the structure and poise for which Margaret River is renowned. Aromas of bitter chocolate and dark plum give way to a platate redolent in blackcurrant and dark red fruit flavours, all of which are underpinned by cedar-like oak.'
Winemaker Julian Langworthy
From the picturesque Abbey Vale vineyard comes this ultra-premium wine, made by Jimmy Watson winner Julian Langworthy. This blend is all about poise and regional expression. Deep and inviting aromas of ripe red fruits, plum and violet are complemented by notes of bay leaf and liquorice. The palate is well-rounded with generous layers of fruitcake, spice and lush red fruits, all of which are supported by cedar-like oak and fine, juicy tannins that provide incredible persistence.
