One of the best young Trevallon wines ever released, this will be nothing short of miraculous in a decade to come. Just wait for the big scores to come rolling in..
Along with Tempier and Château Simone, Domaine de Trévallon stands as one of the great, long aging and truly noble wines of Provence. The Trévallon vineyard covers 17 hectares and surrounds a large, blue-shuttered, Provençal farmhouse. It is divided into 15 hectares of red grapes, made up of equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah and 2 hectares of white grapes.
Eloi Dürrbach believed Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon made a thrilling duo in a very particular pocket of Provence. Through the decades he's proved this slice in Les Alpilles, The Little Alps, can produce some of the very most celebrated wines in France.
These are Grand Cru level wines in all but name, with pricing that’s a welcomed reminder of its humble origins.
The whole cluster-fermented reds age in large, old foudre, a critical element in giving this wine its tremendous clarity and brightness. While the gravel of Bordeaux is home to the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon, and the granite northern Rhone to the greatest Syrah, Dürbach knows here on limestone the sum of the parts achieves something far greater than each posses on their own.
Trévallon is known for its long aging process, more than 2 years for its reds. Racking is kept to a strict minimum, the lees found at the bottom of the barrels continue to nourish the wine during the ageing process
