  • THE BRIEF
  • Formerly named Pinot d’Alsace, which in the Alsace tradition indicates a blend of Auxerrois and Pinot-Blanc grapes, this wine originates from the Rotenberg vineyard in Wintzenheim and Herrenweg in Turckheim.

In 2015, the proportion of Pinot Blanc was probably slightly higher than Auxerrois. The red limestone of the Rotenberg vineyard, benefiting from a much cooler exposition and higher altitude, yielded the bulk of this wine. The Herrenweg grapes were in comparison much smaller and there was also more coulure due to the heat during flowering. Without doubt this changed the style of the wine slightly and explains the great structure for such a hot vintage.

  • WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

Bright pale yellow colour. The nose is quite intense but slow to open up and reveal beautiful floral and fruity aromatics (honeysuckle, peach, melon) over a clear limestone minerality. There is no doubt the initial tightness originates from the influence of the higher, cooler, red limestone Rotenberg vineyard. The palate shows intensity but at the same time remains tight and elegant. The very dry finish to this salivating, juicy and very pure Pinot-Blanc.

    WINE ENTHUSIAST

Gentle but lovely hints of yellow mirabelle plum are just perceptible on the nose. The palate is light and lithe and meets the scented fruit of the nose with an earthy roundness.
