The prestigious vineyard of the €œHospices de Colmar € is of a historical heritage which was established thanks to benefactor's donations and legacies. Founded in 1255, it remains the property of Louis Pasteur's civil hospices and is exclusively produced by €œDomaine Viticole de la Ville de Colmar €.
The 'Hospice de Colmar' Riesling stems from gravelly soil, benefits from an exceptional microclimate and develops floral and citrus aromas, typical of this grape variety.A frank and lively attack, structure and richness give this wine remarkable balance and persistence.
Vineyard - Hospice de Colmar Vineyards
Winemaking - Hand harvested, pneumatic pressing of whole bunches, static cold decanting. Fermentation at controlled temperature. Racking after fermentation, blending of the different varieties and ageing on fine lees.
'One of the premier Alsace Riesling's from Viticole de La Ville de Colmar - chalk and stone, cut fresh apple, lemon curd, hay and a honey and lemon type acidity/tang. A hint of back palate spice lends this wine an extra dimension, with the slightly riper vintage giving the wine a sense of opulence. A pleasure to drink'
