'Richly robed in luscious fruits supported by gentle tannins and a dab of oak. It is well made (of course) and is strongly Barossan in temperament.'

My aim with Plexus is to express the wide spectrum of red fruit flavours from Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre and also provide structure with a seamless balance and long finish. Traditional, low intervention winemaking techniques are employed with Plexus, allowing the wine to be approachable in its youth, but also have a medium to long term cellaring potential for 8 - 10 years.
Fermentation with submerged cap and small open stainless steel fermenters. 100% barrel maturated for 15 months, with just 10% new fine grain French oak hogsheads (300 litre barrels); with the balance 3-6 year old barrels.
Varieties - Shiraz 52%, Grenache 32%, Mourvèdre 16%. The Shiraz was sourced from old vineyards in the Krondorf and Ebenezer districts, Grenache from the Tanunda, Ebenezer and Eden Valley regions and Mourvèdre from the Light Pass and Ebenezer regions.
Colour - Vibrant purple with deep red hues.
Nose - Dark berries and bramble with a dusting of spices, licorice and dried herbs.
Palate - Medium-bodied with a generous core of ripe black berries and supporting red fruits. Ample structure provided by fine grainy tannins with a long spicy finish.
Alc/vol - 14.5%
'Matured for 15 months in French oak (10% new). Richly robed in luscious fruits supported by gentle tannins and a dab of oak. It is well made (of course) and is strongly Barossan in temperament. What you make of this will depend on your personal preference.'

'All the right ingredients for the Barossa red wine fiends; John Duval winemaker, old vine, low yield, mesh of Shiraz-Grenache-Mourvedre. Righteous. Only 10% new oak is used in this wine, though it is matured for 15 months in barrel. From the get-go these have been honest-to-goodness wines. A good year here too.
Reserved sweet-berried fruit scents, faint nougat, cedar, liquorice, undergrowth. Attractive set up. Medium weight, fruit forward, fine ribbons of tannin, bright acidity. This has such deliciousness to it. Lighter shade of Barossa in a way, fine feeling, but full flavoured, with crisp edges and a fresh finish. Indeed, it’s probably a bit light on for stalwarts of true blue Barossa red wines, but it is very good in its own way.'

'A Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro blend, the 2015 Plexus has a pale to medium garnet-purple color and nose of kirsch, redcurrant jelly and raspberry preserves with hints of Chinese five spice, hoisin, roses, black pepper and underbrush. Rich, concentrated, full-bodied and full-on seductive, it fills the palate with exotically spiced red fruit preserves. With plush tannins and a balanced freshness, it has a perfumed finish with satisfying persistence.'

'Deep red colour with a tint of purple and quite a lot of oak to sniff, together with smoke, char, toast and a subtle trace of spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied and nicely smooth-textured, notwithstanding ample tannins. The style is savoury and drying, with a clean, extended finish.'

'A flavourful red with lots of juicy-fruit and chocolate character. Full body, round and juicy tannins and a savoury finish.'
