  • Founded in Burgundy in 1880, Maison Drouhin has been assembled over the years parcel by parcel, and now comprises 73 ha of vineyards in the Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune, Cote Chalonnaise and Chablis.

    A few kilometers south of Beaune, in the celebrated terroir of Côte des Blancs, Meursault is one of the oldest villages in Burgundy. It was settled in Neolithic times, before being occupied by the Gauls, and then the Romans, who gave it the name Muris Saltus (Meursault).


    Fruit is hand-picked and sorted at the winery, followed by crushing and a very gentle pressing. Juice from the last pressings is not retained to preserve quality and fruit purity. Fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. No cultured yeasts are used in fermentation. After ferment, the wine is racked off its lees straight to barrel for maturation. 25% new oak, 12 months ageing.


    A beautiful golden colour and a great aromatic palette: honey, linden flower, hazelnut butter, sometimes even chamomile or hawthorn. On the palate, a silky roundness. Long on the aftertaste, with flavours of yellow plum and gingerbread.


    'The 2015 Meursault was tasted as the final blend from barrel. It has a very aromatic peach and yellow plum scented bouquet with just a faint hint of peppermint adding a soupçon of extravagance. The palate is well balanced with a harmonious, glycerine-tinged opening, the acidity well judged with a touch of stem ginger enlivening the finish. Bon vin!'

    'Sample. Very restrained nose with a hint of liquorice. Smooth texture and a little more friendly (and certainly less reductive) than the current Meursault mode. A friendly Meursault for fairly early drinking - in the air?'
