  • Established in 1980, Martinborough Vineyard is an iconic, pioneering producer of Martinborough with a commitment to the perfection of Pinot Noir. The first winery to plant Pinot Noir grapes in the famed region, today it is home to the oldest vines in the district. Artisan winemaking techniques, along with dedication to land preservation, and sharing a legacy of wine knowledge with future generations, has earned Martinborough Vineyard a continuous reputation for excellence.

    Launched in 2002, Te Tera Is the companion brand to Martinborough Vineyard Estate Wines. 
    Te Tera vineyards typically range from 8 – 23 years old and are located within the premium Martinborough growing appellation. Te Tera literally translates from Maori as "The Other.” These wines embody a more youthful, approachable style of Pinot Noir.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

    In 1980 Martinborough Vineyard established the very first Pinot Noir vines in the region. Picturesque vineyards with free draining soils, hot summers and reliable long, dry autumns make Martinborough the perfect region for growing traditional cool climate wines.

    TASTING NOTES

    Wonderful aromatics of dark cherries and dried herbs and spices instantly grab your attention on the nose of this elegant Pinot Noir. On the first sip, your palate is greeted with soft, rich fruit flavours with a hint of spice. The moreish tannins and a velvety texture make for an impressive finish.

    'Dark, even ruby-red colour with light purple hues, a little paler on the rim, youthful in appearance. The nose is well-proportioned with good volume and depth of ripe dark raspberries, black cherries and plum fruit, along with spice and liquorice notes. The fresh fruit aromatics are joined by some savoury herb and earth detail with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is rich and sweetly juicy with plush flavours of dark raspberries and black cherries, along with plum and liquorice notes. The fleshy fruit is balanced by fine-grained, supple tannins and fresh acidity that enable accessibility. The palate has vibrancy, richness and sweetness that carries to a sustained finish. This is a rich, fleshy and plush, dark-red, black berry and plum fruited Pinot Noir on a fine-textured, supple and refreshing palate. Match with poultry and pork, and with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 4-5+ years. Fruit from the company’s younger vineyards, vines 8-20 y.o., predominantly hand-picked, fully destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in French oak.'
