DESCRIPTION
  • Moorooduc, located in the Port Phillip Bay 'dress-circle have the philosophy to make the most of top quality ingredients, with intensive hands-on care in the vineyard and minimal use of chemicals to ensure the best possible fruit for their wines. Wild yeasts ferments and minimal intervention winemaking gives a nod to the traditional techniques of Burgundy.

The Estate Pinot is often one of the picks from the Moorooduc range. As a blend of the McIntyre Vineyards and Davidson vineyards, this is the wine that really showcases the tip-top philosophy that has made this winery such a cult phenomenon for over 30 years. It's dark, brooding and concentrated, with soft red fruits, cinnamon and  liquorice providing the interest. It's an exemplary wine, with juicy acids and silky tannins.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

A lovely vintage with great weather through the whole of the growing and ripening period, resulting in beautiful fruit, both white and red. The wines are well structured with delicious, crisp natural acidity, concentrated and balanced flavours and great length.

    TASTING NOTES

Bright garnet in colour with a nose redolent of juicy ripe red cherries, violets, earthy complexity and just a hint of licorice and spicy notes of clove and star anise. On the palate, more cherry fruit, with some savoury undertones and firm, velvety tannins. Juicy fruit balances perfectly with crunchy acid, firm tannins and a long, mouthwatering aftertaste. This wine is bright and delicious. Will pair well to duck breast on puy lentils.

  • REVIEWS

'The 2015 Moorooduc Estate Pinot Noir is one of this family-owned and operated winery's finest. The nose is packed with rich and ripe red dark cherry fruits and a swathe of vibrant, fragrant red flowers, baking spices and gently toasty oak. On the palate the same set of deliciously fresh fruits arrive in a richly flavoursome mode, the double act of depth and freshness is a convincing one. This is superb drinking now and will deliver easily over the next 5-6 years.'

'Five clones (MV6, 777, 667, Pommard and Abel), hand-picked, 18% whole bunches, wild yeast open-fermented, 19-21 days on skins, matured in French oak (20% new). Light, bright crimson-purple; a bright and fresh into to the suite of lovely Moorooduc Estate Pinots from this great vintage. It is delicate, but very detailed, cherry fruit to the fore, and lingering long through to the aftertaste with the same message.'
