'The spicy bouquet is particularly fragrant, and the medium-bodied palate is quite special in the way it dances in the mouth, luscious dark fruits and licorice giving way to flashes of elegant freshness.'
96 Points - James Halliday

  • Shining Rock is a family owned and operated Vineyard in the Adelaide Hills. Established in 2000 by Petaluma, the Arney family purchased the Shining Rock Vineyard in 2012 after scouring the Adelaide Hills for years looking for the perfect vineyard and a property to build a home for their family.

In selecting the site for the vineyard, Petaluma searched for a site that would reflect the home of Shiraz (Syrah) in the Northern Rhone in France. The vineyard has been planted on a predominately northeast sloping aspect at an elevation of 380 metres. There are multiple clones of Shiraz planted that have been accessed from some of the oldest (and best) cool climate vineyards in Australia.

Peter Leske of Revenir in Lenswood was the original winemaker crafting the successful 2015 vintage wines. Since that time the vineyard has re-instated a connection with its initial establishment with wines now made at the Tapanappa (old Petaluma) winery in Picadilly.

  • REVIEWS

'Co-fermented with 6% viognier, 20% whole bunches, matured in French oak (25% new). Is every bit as complex as the vinification would suggest. The spicy bouquet is particularly fragrant, and the medium-bodied palate is quite special in the way it dances in the mouth, luscious dark fruits and licorice giving way to flashes of elegant freshness, and finally high quality tannins. This is a winery to watch.'
