'The acidity is cool climate of breed, punchy and highly effective at tucking the hefty engine into a sleek bonnet.'
95 Points - Wine Companion
The Reserve Wines reflect the heritage of the single Estate philosophy at TarraWarra, with the first vintage in 1986.
Racked directly to barrel after whole-bunch pressing, this wine is the purest expression of TarraWarra Chardonnay. Made without yeast or acid addition, the fruit batches from each block are kept entirely separate in barrel over the 10 months in oak. It is crossflow filtered without fining before bottling at the Estate.
A wine of very fine complexity it displays fig and white peach aromas. It has the length that is the hallmark of our Chardonnay.
A wine to drink and enjoy now or cellar for 10 or more years.
Vine Clone, Age & Features - 95 and Mendoza clones. The fruit is all selected from our original vineyard planted in 1983.
Site Selection - The heritage blocks of B and G have a north-west aspect and represent a perfect site for Chardonnay. The two blocks have deep soils and a cool micro-climate.
Vintage Notes - 2015 was an ideal year for the Yarra Valley, with warm days and cool nights during ripening allowed for fine flavour development and retention of acid. Yields were around 7 tonnes per hectare. The fruit was in perfect condition at harvest.
Alc/vol - 12.8%
'Sourced from the older B and G Blocks, planted in '83, this is a rich, flavourful Chardonnay despite its modest alcohol. Built solidly around a mid-palate of creamy, lees-driven nougat notes and vanilla pod oak supports, the aromas are all truffled corn, popcorn and funk. A stone fruit-inflected mineral tang reveals itself, bosomed beneath the billowy creaminess. A generous wine packed with flavour, but far from fat. The acidity is cool climate of breed, punchy and highly effective at tucking the hefty engine into a sleek bonnet.'

'Mineral and handsomely oaked, but with a vibrant core of grapefruit, melon and lemon.'
95 Points - Jeremy Oliver
'Peach, nectarine aromas, fresh and clean. Subtle toasted nut nuances. A classic Chardonnay, full-bodied and smooth, rounded and loaded with toasty nutty, buttery and creamy lees flavours. Generously flavoured silky soft wine.'
92 Points - Huon Hooke
'It’s an elegant Chardonnay from one of the Yarra Valley’s finest/most prestigious estates. At this early stage of its life it lacks some excitement but you’d bet on this blossoming over the next handful of years. It has texture, length, balance and style, and in many ways that’s all you need to know. Oatmeal, cracked wheat, grapefruit and dry pear flavours come coated lightly with spicy, cedary oak. Very good length.'
