Considered to be a benchmark producer in the region, Tiefenbrunner was founded in 1848 and their range of wines including Chardonnay, Maller Thurgau, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon Blanc continue to delight wine-lovers throughout the world. Their vineyards lie on the steep slopes of the region, one in particular, the Feldmarschell von Fenner Maller Thurgau is at 1000 metres above sea-level, and is trellised with the local pergola and wine frame methods. The winery is located in Entiklar, a hamlet of Kurtatsch and the estate consistently wins many awards in Italy's most famous wine guide, the Gambero Rosso.
A pretty white with sliced mango and hints of spice and stone. Full body, plenty of fruit yet fresh and vivid. Drink now. Screw cap.
KERIN O’KEEFE - WINE ENTHUSIAST
Made entirely with Müller-Thurgau grown in high mountain vineyards, this opens with aromas of toasted hazelnut, fennel and mature orchard fruit. The round bright palate delivers creamy yellow apple, white peach and a juicy orange zest note while an energizing mineral note lifts the finish.
DECANTER WORLD WINE AWARDS 2017 - BRONZE
Rich fruity nose with aromatic herb notes, good weight of ripe apricot and citrus fruit, lovely lively acidity.
MONICA LARNER - WINE ADVOCATE
Packaged in a screw cap bottle, the 2015 Alto Adige Müller Thurgau Feldmarschall Von Fenner is a crystal clear and translucent wine that captures the ambient light with brilliance. I noticed a touch of reduction that does not fully blow off. I had the same impression with the 2013 vintage. There is vibrant fruit below with peach and cantaloupe melon, but it takes a while before the wine begins to show its aromatic purity. Grapes are picked from a soaring vineyard site located 1,000 meters above sea level.
