2016 Barton & Guestier Cotes du Rhone Syrah Grenache

2016 Barton & Guestier Cotes du Rhone Syrah Grenache

This is impressively fruited and expressed on the nose showing dark plum, blueberry, thyme, floral and toasted almond characters. The palate is succulent and plump, delivering excellent fruit intensity and rounded mouthfeel, finishing long and silky. A gorgeous modern style. At its best: now to 2019. AU$20.00. April 2018.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

Classified Appellation Côtes du Rhône Contrôlée, sourced from the Southern Rhone, between Motelimar and Avignon. Made from 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 20% Carignan. The climate is mediterranean, with high temperatures and exceptional sun. Vinified using de-stalked grapes, daily rack and return and then aging on lees with controlled oxidation. Low yields, hand tending, careful selection and minimal interference in the natural ripening of the grapes.

    TASTING NOTES

Brilliant cherry red color. Fruit driven with black berries, liquorice and delicate minty notes when agitated. Well balanced, with a nice texture and a long fruity and peppery aftertaste.
