2016 Benjamin Leroux Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Baudines

Our Price: $185.00 / bottle (RRP: $199.00 ) Case: 1 x 750ml
The 3.60-hectare Les Baudines vineyard sits up high on the slope, near the tree line on the southwestern border of Chassagne. It’s a very cool site with mostly white clay soils and offers a terroir that perfectly suits Leroux’s desire to produce fine-boned Chassagne. From vines planted in the 1980s, this vintage was raised with 20% new oak. Textured and fleshy with lovely fresh preserved lemon, lime leaf and fresh mint notes and a refreshing drive and freshness. Also some gentle grip which is typical of this site.

'“Bright medium yellow. Lemon, pear and white flowers on the ripe nose. At once thick and savory, conveying terrific texture to its almost honeyed stone fruit flavors lifted by flowers. Finishes with a slowly building whiplash of flavor. Leroux used just one-third one-year-old barrels, and the rest older, explaining that Baudines is a cooler site and he "didn't want to kill the floral character with wood.'
