Due to the frost, Leroux’s sources of Le Clos du Château and Le Trézin, were not available this year. So, with the traditional source of Corvée des Vignes, this year’s cuvée derives from Les Reuchaux, which lies adjacent to the latter site on the Meursault side of the village. Across the parcels, the vines average 40 years of age. Raised in mostly 300-litre barrels (25% new). Again we see the depth of fruit and texture on offer from 2016. This is creamy and pulpy, textured yet with terrific drive and freshness to close.
'This was the first 2016 white to finish its malo): Light-medium yellow. Very ripe, almost candied peach on the nose, plus a whiff of banana. A distinctly glyceral, opulent style, quite full but rather exotic: I feel more warmth today than actual fruit intensity. Finishes full but slightly aggressive. The alcohol here is a moderate 12.8%, without chaptalization. Leroux noted that the frost here was "like a green harvest; we still produced 45 hectoliters per hectare..'Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
