2016 Benjamin Leroux Volnay

Burgundy

Our Price: $124.99 / bottle (RRP: $150.00 ) Case: 1 x 750ml
DESCRIPTION
The 2016 harvest offered up yet another miserly crop for Leroux’s Volnay villages. As in 2015, only five barrels were made. Quality, however, is off the charts—not least because around 80% of the wine is actually declassified 1er Cru! The 2016 is made up of four barrels of 1er Cru (younger vine Les Mitans and Les Santenots) married with one barrel of Volnay villages (from the La Gigotte terroir). Across the blend, one barrel of the five was new and Leroux utilised 20% whole bunches. The result is a wonderful value red Burgundy, bright and racy and packed with aromatics and flavours of red florals, cherry and spicy. A terrific value in the context of Burgundy.

REVIEWS
'♥ Outstanding. Top Value. A notably more elegant nose offers up excellent freshness to the pure red cherry, spice and warm earth nuances. The sleek, intense and beautifully textured middle weight flavors possess a lacy but punchy finish where a hint of salinity appears. This is lovely and again, the influence of the 1ers is very much in evidence.'
