The name “Selkirk” is in recognition of the Willson family's heritage. This Scottish border town was the ancestral home of the Willson family.
The signature range allows the Willsons to show the pure varietal expression of Langhorne Creek's well known varieties. These wines will develop further with bottle maturation or can be enjoyed now.
WINEMAKER'S NOTES
After fermenting in small open top fermenters the wine spent up to 18 months in selected new and older fine grain American & French oak. Parcels were chosen to give the final blend the best balance between varietal fruit character, complexity and structure.
TASTING NOTES
The 2016 Selkirk Shiraz offers distinctive varietal characters of lifted white pepper aroma, dark berry fruit, plum and savoury spice. It displays a well-balanced palate structure, soft supple tannins and well integrated oak.
REVIEWS
'Oodles of dark berry fruit flavours are crammed into a fulsome palate, lit by violet, iodine and a smidgeon of pepper grind. Some oak vanillin, too. This is a crowd-pleaser for those reared on warm climate Aussie shiraz, albeit, one rendered in a restrained style.'
