2016 Domaine Pichot Vouvray Brut

2016 Domaine Pichot Vouvray Brut

A lovely sparkling Vouvray, made under Methode Traditionelle. Delicious Chenin Blanc characters of apple and quince come through, over a subtle brioche note. A fantastic sparkling.

DESCRIPTION
  • The Pichot family is one of the oldest in Vouvray with origins as viticulturists and restaurateurs going back to 1739. Their vineyard holdings are located mostly in the prime sites of Le Mont and Haut Lieu at the top of the village, with several other holdings scattered throughout the appellation. All harvesting is done by hand and yields are kept low at an average 25 hl/ha.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

100% Chenin Blanc. Clay-limestone soils. Cold settled in tank, before fermentation in Stainless steel vats. Once in bottle, the wine spends a minimum of 36 months on lees, before disgorgement.

    TASTING NOTES

Brilliant pale straw colour with a faint tinge of green still remaining on the edges and watery hue. The nose displays lifted scents of apple, ripe pear, citrus, quince and spice. On the palate fresh, ripe apple and citrus flavours are followed by some more subtle quince and spice. Clean dry finish with excellent natural acidity. Aftertaste of apple, citrus and quince.
