  • THE BRIEF
  • A beautifully off-dry Pinot Gris, from the Guebwiller Valley. It's classic and refined, with the 9.6gm/L of residual sugar balanced by refreshing acidity. It's filled with aromas of golden delicious apple, ripe quince, and candied citrus, with a rich and concentrated palate that leads to a long and lingering finish. Enjoyable on its own, it would shine even brighter alongside Asian cuisine.

  • THE FINER DETAILS
  • Primarily produced in the named locality of Schimberg situated in the valley of Guebwiller, on a volcanic subsoil, our Pinot Gris benefits from a full South exposure.

Slow pneumatic pressing, static racking. Fermentation in thermo-regulated tuns for 1 to 4 months. Maturation on lees from 6 to 8 months.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

The nose is lifted and pleasant with good intensity. Rich and ripe yellow fruits, golden apple, quince, and a characteristic smokiness. The off-dry palate is textural and luscious, with a voluminous, mouth-filling energy and drive. Wonderfully ripe fruits balanced by a clear and linear acidity that focuses the wine through to the finish. Stunning.

  • WHO MADE IT?
  • Domaines Schlumberger is a family vineyard established in 1810. Nowadays, it is run by two generations working side by side for a better handover: Alain Beydon-Schlumberger, 6th generation, Séverine and Thomas Schlumberger, 7th generation. All of their wines are estate-grown and produced on site. With an exceptional location, situated on the steep hillsides of the Vosges, the vineyard benefits from the best exposures; Its slopes can reach 50°. Because of the Vineyard’s topography and the soil composition the yields are much lower than average for the region : 45 hl/ha for the entire Domaine. Even today, all vineyard work is carried out with teams of horses, who can navigate the steep slopes. 30 hectares are farmed biodynamically, to ensure great quality wines for the future generations.

ANNE KREBIEHL MW - THE WINE ENTHUSIAST

Ripe, aromatic green and yellow pears waft on the nose. Concentrated and rich, the palate is tempered with a guiding streak of ripe lemon freshness, creating attractive tension as well as harmonious balance. The finish is off dry and long.
