  • A premium shiraz from one of the iconic producers of the region. A rich bouquet of prunes, liquorice and plums lures you into a dense world of fruit flavours wrapped up in oak. This is a great wine that will make for exceptional ageing over the next 10 years or more. Try it with hearty winter red meat dishes or vegetable moussaka.

  • The 2016 vintage was exceptional in Heathcote, with all the makings of our finest yet. One of our coldest winters in recent memory was followed by a warm and dry spring, with perfect, even set and growth. The warm, dry and consistent conditions prevailed throughout summer, resulting in highly concentrated small berries. Our five individual blocks and their various sections were handled separately in the winery and vintage 2016 created 11 unique batches of wine.

The grapes were fermented in a combination of traditional open and closed fermenters after gentle destemming, with some batches receiving whole bunches. The wines were then pressed and transferred into French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation - majority 300L hogsheads, some 500L puncheons and some parcels aged in traditional 6250L cuves. Racked twice during maturation. Tom Carson

    WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

Lifted perfume with layers of red and black fruits. Pristine and poised with floral notes, tar, gun flint and exceptional concentration and purity. The palate is seamless and fine, loaded with fruit texture and tightly packed savoury tannins.

HUON HOOKE - THE REAL REVIEW

Deep, dense, bright red/purple colour, the bouquet evokes smoky char-oak and earth, a hint of graphite, and is quite complex and very shirazzy. The wine is very full-bodied and dense, concentrated, gutsy, with big structure and lashings of firm tannins. The finish is very drying and long lasting. This demands patience.'
