Formerly known as Woollaston Estates, the vineyard was founded in 2000 by Glenn Schaeffer and Phillip Woollaston. Years later it is now under the care of Mike Glover, whose minimal-interventionist approach is creating some truly exciting wines.
WINEMAKER'S NOTES
High solids, warm ferment by wild yeasts with no addtions. Stop-fermented to retain 40g/l residual sugar and alc/vol of 9.5%
TASTING NOTES
The nose shows apple and pear characters as well as high-toned perfumed characters that are redolent of lilies and other spring blossoms. There is also a stony, gravelly minerality to it too. The combination of 40g/l residual sugar along with some good phenolic derived back palate texture means the wine is actually really textural despite its light weight frame. This wine is all about the balance between acid, sugar and phenolics to bring about richness.
REVIEWS
'Quite a sweet riesling with honey, ripe apricot and lime zest flavours. A luscious wine that's perfectly balanced by juicy acidity to give some exquisite tension. Very appealing indeed.'
