Stella Bella's five distinctive vineyards are located throughout southern Margaret River. An area of the region chosen for its cool climate and ability to produce elegant, aromatic and medium bodied wines with personality and precision.
Their farming practices aim to improve soils and maintain vine health. This gives them the ability to make subtle changes, responding to the season and surrounding environment. Creating fruit that reflects the climate, soil and character of southern Margaret River. In the pursuit of vine balance, they use respectful techniques such as organic fertilisers, mid-row cropping, spring plantings of buckwheat and minimal chemical inputs. All of these practices help with nutrient cycling and encourage beneficial insect species throughout the vineyard.
Elegant and luxurious Margaret River Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, Stella Bella Luminosa wines are distinguished and reflective.
Handmade and created in small batches, the wines are alluring displaying elegant yet complex layers that reflect the season, the vineyard and southern Margaret River. Each wine is created to evolve beautifully over time and made only in exceptional vintages.
Exotic aromas and mineral purity define the alluring combination of seaspray, Kaffir lime, lime pith and pink grapefruit. Delicate musk and a subtle caramel char add to the complexity. Increased fruit weight and texture driven by a lime and pink grapefruit. A minerally springwater note highlights precision and length. Silky smooth with just the right amount of tension at the back.
Stella Bella Wines evolved from the fusion of two passionate minds, Stuart Pym and Janice McDonald. They had a strong belief in the unique and expressive terroir of the Margaret River region, and it was this belief that carried them on their journey to create Stella Bella Wines. Back in 1996, Stuart and Janice took over the 'Suckfizzle' Vineyard, believing that its distinctive location would produce unique wines. They weren't wrong, and in 1998 the first vintage of Suckfizzle Sauvignon Blanc Semillon was released. The Stella Bella name was launched in the following yers, as their portfolio of wines grew. They added an estate range, an entry-level range under the label Skuttlebutt, and a premium range labelled, Serie Luminosa. In 2013, Stuart handed over the reins as Chief Winemaker to Luke Joliffe. Today, the Stella Bella team work with a variety of vineyards dotted throughout the Margaret River - Darch, Isca, Forest Grove, Karridale and, of course, Suckfizzle. Each site encapsulates a different aspect and terroir of the Margaret River, allowing Luke and his team to create harmonious blends across different vineyards, or to isolate single vineyard expressions and showcase the individual vineyard characteristics.
NED GOODWIN - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION
A surprisingly subtle chardonnay for the region, with fermentation in oak followed by settling in tank. Stone fruit hints, wild yeast pungency and crisp mineral energy. A swathe of vanillin oak, barely detectable. The beauty here is in the detail, vinosity and compelling length.'
HUON HOOKE - THE REAL REVIEW
Light yellow colour and a complex, savoury, nutty, tremendously complex bouquet with lots of nougat. There is lemony freshness through the palate, and the wine is all-round impressive and utterly delicious.'
