  • THE FINER DETAILS
  • Mike and Margaret Hanson spent a long time searching for the perfect piece of land before finding what is now ‘Hanson Vineyard’ in 1996 and creating their label. Their philosophy is simply to make single vineyard wines of uncompromised quality. Using only their own Estate Grown fruit, from the best vintages, placing a strong emphasis on the elegant, yet complex characteristics of great pinots.

    JOE CZERWINSKI - WINE ADVOCATE

The 2016 Pinot Noir was made by Paul Mason, winemaker at Martinborough Vineyard. The wine is very ripe without going over the top, the dark cherries joined by hints of thyme and mocha. Medium to full-bodied, this wine is concentrated and richly textured, yet it remains fresh, juicy and mouthwatering on the long finish. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.

HUON HOOKE - THE REAL REVIEW

Deepish red colour with a tinge of purple. The bouquet seems very ripe, a trifle stewed, but the palate is loaded with sweet fruit. It has stacks of flavour and plenty of charm. There's good pinot character and also structure, with abundant soft, fine tannins.

First bottle somewhat out of condition.Pale ruby-purple. Fresh cinnamon and dried herb, spice and an attractive, floral tone to strawberry fruit. Good density to the firm tannins. Good length. Score: 16+/20
