DESCRIPTION
  • The lineage of this wine has a stream of trophies and gold medals to its name, both locally and globally. This outstanding red is silky smooth, dense and full of power. Weighty red berries, plums and every dark berry fruit you can imagine saturate the core, surrounded by playful violet and oaky notes. Exceptional structure will allow cellaring for 20+ years, promising amazing results.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

Following harvest the fruit was crushed into a variety of small fermenters (4 to 6T in capacity). Fermentation was carried out at a warm temperature (25-28°). The ferments were manually pumped over to provide good control of tannin extraction. Each fermenter was treated as a separate parcel of wine and once dry was filled to American oak (40% new). Following malolactic fermentation the wines were racked and returned to the same oak. Parcels remained in barrel for an average of 18 months prior to blending. Only the best barrels from the multiple parcels were used to make the final blend. Once blended the wine was prepared for bottling.

    TASTING NOTE
Deep red with inky purple hues.  This classic Barossa style shows rich blackberry, liquorice, spice plum and smoky oak on the nose.  The palate is dense with ripe mulberry and berry compote and generous supporting oak.  The tannins are savoury and long with spicy refined finish.

  • REVIEWS

'Very dark, near saturated lack-hue ruby-red colour. The nose is full and sweetly ripe with vibrant and luscious aromas of blackberries melded with boysenberries and black plums along with a layer of black pepper and Asian spices, and sweet, nutty oak. This has excellent intensity and unfolds layers of richness with exotic detail. Full-bodied, the palate has beautifully ripened and sweetly luscious flavours of blackberries with notes of boysenberries and black plums, with complexing black pepper, spices and exotic oak. The flavours are succulent, decadent and opulent, and are supported by considerable fine-grained tannin structure and grip to match the power of the fruit. The acidity is ripe and restrained, lending a thread of vitality that sees the wine carry to a sustained, rich and sweet finish. This is a beautifully rich, decadent and opulent Shiraz with ripe black fruits, spices and exotic oak on a palate with great structure and power.'
