  • THE BRIEF
  • The name Tim Adams goes hand in hand with quality Clare Valley wine. With each vintage, he makes it his focus to find top quality Clare fruit with an aim to making pure expressions of both varietal and terroir with vibrant fruit character.
Cabernet Sauvignon has often been considered a wonderful match to the climate of Clare Valley, with some of Australia's Top Cabernet cuvee's coming out of this region. Malbec is able to add some fruit and florals and enhances the complexity of this lovely little wine. This wine offers outstanding value, the sort of wine you can crack a bottle of tonight on the couch and be incredibly satisfied with, or can hide away in the cellar for 15 years and be astounded at how well it lasts. Truly delicious Clare Valley wine.

  • THE FINER DETAILS
  • Cabernet Sauvignon has long been recognised as an excellent, consistent variety that performs well in the Clare Valley. The addition of Malbec adds to the complexity of the mid-palate contributing violet, mulberry, added texture and richness. The result is a full-bodied wine with generous chalky tannins.
2016 has been lauded as one of the great vintages, with red wines benefiting from the excellent ripening conditions, providing extraordinary fruit flavours.
Twenty-four months in French oak provides complexity, depth and balance to our house style which is dominated by juicy ripe plum and fresh blackcurrant and blackberry aromas and flavours.
Feel content cellaring this Cabernet Malbec for at least ten years in good conditions. We recommend decanting a few hours before enjoying.
The wine has not been cold stabilised, so a harmless crust may form with time.

  • WHO MADE IT?
  • Tim Adams has a strong focus based on making wines exclusively from Clare Valley grapes. They are selected for their authentic varietal and regional characters and vibrant fruit flavour. His wines can be enjoyed while youthful and fresh or cellared for five to 15 years, depending on the wine. The winery crushes over 1000 tonnes annually. The fruit is sourced from four estate vineyards and local growers including the Sheoak, Ladera, Bayes and Irelands vineyards. The Tim Adams winery is located 130km north of Adelaide in South Australia’s beautiful Clare Valley. It was first established in 1987 and grapes were crushed on site several months later. The existing winery and cellar door opened in 1988.

CAMPBELL MATTINSON - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION

In excellent form. Fluid, characterful and soft but with the inherent structure to last. Red and black berries, gum leaf, vanilla and violets. Leathery, leafy characters too. As soon as you open it you know you're onto something good. Terrific value.

    TYSON STELZER

A ripper take on Clare's signature blend, and a perpetual bargain that delivers berry fruits of varietal crunch and depth, bottle maturity, impressive endurance and tannin finesse far beyond its price

CAMPBELL MATTINSON - THE WINE FRONT

Proud-fashioned is the way it was described last year. This is a particularly good release. Buy and drink this. Go forth. It's a little leafy, a little leathery, a lot red/black berried and set with a good but appropriate amount of tannin. Vanilla, violet and gum leaf characters are all part of this wine's shtick, all in a positive way. It's bang on, and great value.

    HUON HOOKE

Deep red colour with a good purple tint. The bouquet quite pepperminty, fresh and bright, together with a dark-berry aroma and flavour. It's full-bodied and the tannins are firm and pervasive. The finish is clean and bright and fresh, the palate well-balanced and solidly structured. Good now and it will reward substantial cellaring.
