'A producer of beautiful honest wines from the Barossa' - Phillip White
Estate single vineyard wine grown in the chilly surrounds of Mount McKenzie in the Eden Valley, Barossa. This label represents Torzi Matthew's rendition of Eden Valley, Barossa Shiraz using the non dried portions of fruit that end up in Frost Dodger Shiraz (while also being aged in the 1-3 year old versions of the very same oak barrels that make up the Frost Dodger).
The Terroirs of the Barossa looks to highlight the unique wine flavour characteristics qualities of the individual sub-regions, or ‘Parishes’ in the Barossa. These differences stem from the relationships between man and place, with soils, climate zones, viticulture, aspects and water access, all playing important roles in the flavor of the grapes of these sites.
To ensure the unique character of this sub region is exemplified in the wine, small open fermenters and our basket press were employed to gently extract the wine. Aging in the finest quality oak and selection of the truest barrels has created a wine that respects and expresses its place of origin.
From the northern district of Ebenezer, home to some of the greatest vineyards in Australia known for their great ageability and soft tannins. Soil: Red Brown Earth on Calcerous Subsoil. Altitude: 278 metres above sea level.
Shiraz wines from this region are typically characterised by lifted aromas of lavender and spice. The palate is full of red fruits, leather, cedar and fine, talc like tannins.
'Striking purple as it hits the glass, blackberry pastille, chocolate, spice, cured meats. Medium to full bodied, intense and juicy dark pastille fruit flavour, with spice and dried mint and herbs, pleasing almost graphite tannin, clean acidity, and a sexy-time finish of succulence and length. Lovely expression of cool Eden in the glass, ready now, or perhaps ’till June 2030.'
