  • THE BRIEF
  • This wine is all about the joy of experimenting and bringing different components together.

One parcel of grapes was pressed immediately after their arrival at the estate, another part was kept on the skins for 15 hours and the third part was in contact with stems and skins for about one year. These parcels are combined and blended in order to create a fresh, lively and precise Pinot Grigio, layers of texture and complexity.

  • THE FINER DETAILS
  • Fermentation: spontaneous fermentation, partly in large casks and partly in stainless steel tanks. Maturation: on the lees, partly in large casks and partly in stainless steel tanks (approximately 9 months). Interplay between different components: partly classic vinification, partly short skin contact and extended time on the lees and partly whole cluster vinification.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

Straw-yellow with a red shimmer. Slightly aromatic, pronounced bouquet, fruity (melon, peach) spicy, mineral. Rich and quite oppulent, lively, fresh, fruity, dry.

  • WHO MADE IT?
  • For more than 150 years the Lageder family have been committed to the distinctive terroirs of the Alto Adige - prerequisites for highly individual wines. Founded in 1823 and today directed by 5th and 6th generations Alois and Alois Clemens Lageder, the estate combines tradition and innovation based on a sustainable and holistic philosophy. Work in the vineyards is guided by the cycles and forces of nature, from planting to harvest. The family owned vineyards (50 hectares) located at Magrè, Cortaccia, Termeno and Caldaro are cultivated with biodynamic methods, certified by Demeter. The Lindenburg vineyard at Bolzano and the Krafuss vineyard at S. Michele/Appiano are in conversion. Certified Organic Winery, Demeter

    MONICA LARNER - WINE ADVOCATE

The 2017 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio Porer achieves a beautiful balance between a floral and tropical set of aromas on the one hand, carefully contrasted against sharper citrusy aromas on the other. In between, you get touches of crushed stone and mineral. This is a great summer-drinking wine with loads of personality and a dry, zesty finish. Part of the wine was fermented off the skins, another part saw 15 hours of skin maceration and a third part was fermented with both skins and stems. These three components were assembled and aged on the fine lees, partially in steel and partially in large oak casks. Production is an ample 57,333 bottles. This Northern Italian white offers great value.

    WINE ENTHUSIAST

Made with grapes grown according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, this opens with subtle aromas suggesting mature white stone fruit, dried herb and crushed stone. Mirroring the nose, the lean, linear palate presents unsweetened lemon drop, dried yellow apple slice and a hint of graphite.
