Opaque dark garnet colour with a dark red hue. Rich Plumy nose with notable spice and licorice aromas. Generous combination of Plum and spice brought together with smoky vanilla in the back palley. Velvety tannins, complex and a long finish.
JAMES HALLIDAY - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION
From an east-facing vineyard, fermented in 1-tonne pots with 10% whole bunches and 90% whole berries, 3 weeks on skins, matured for 14 months in French hogsheads. Rich regional/varietal/vintage expression, the last most relevant in shaping the complexity the red and black fruits have. Full-bodied yet elegant.
CAMPBELL MATTINSON - THE WINE FRONT
Heathcote shiraz, made by Simon Osicka. It's been on a good quality run. It sees all-French oak. Smooth, sweet-fruited, substantial but not over-the-top. Plums, into blackberry, a chicory-like note, and plenty of roasted/toasted/mocha oak-derived character. It feels traditional in style but there's enough freshness, and substance, to make it work.
