  • Cabardès is one of the youngest and least well known appelations in all of France, having only been established in 1999. Despite this, its vinous history is long-lived, with people having grown grapes for viticulture since the early medieval times.

Located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of Southern France it is also unique in the fact it is the only French wine appelation which officially allows a mixture of both the Atlantic grape varieties like Cabernet and family (more commonly found in Bordeaux and SW France) and the Mediterreanean varieties like Syrah and Grenache (more commonly found in the Rhone Valley).

Chateau Auzias is one of the leading wineries of the region, with this 'Prestige' bottling being their entry level AOC based wine. Made from a blend of Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Grenache it is a more rustic, earthy rendition of the local style.

    Cabernet Franc, Syrah & Grenache.

The fruit is totally destemmed. Slow fermentation occurs in open tanks with short and frequrnt pumpovers. It is then given a long maceration (40 days) before it is pressed into barrel where it undergoes malolactic fermentation. Aged for 10 months in French oak Barrels.

    Alcohol - 14.5%

Bright, floral notes with vanilla, blackberry and toasted nuts. It holds a rustic charm, with earthen tannins and a chalky, long mouthfeel. This is quite a powerful wine and holds a lot of charm for the drinker.
