NED GOODWIN - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION
Superlative Clare! Grapefruit pulp, lemon zest, jasmine, bath salts and Thai herb notes stream across a bow of limestone-derived minerality and palate-whetting acidity. This is long, penetrative across a multitude of layers and yet, despite the razor-sharp definition, relaxed. There is nothing hard or abrasive about this. It flows long with alacrity in its step! This will reward patience in the cellar.
GARY WALSH - THE WINE FRONT
Famous vineyard. Has anyone clocked Sam Barry’s beard of late? I’m thinking he’s going to be fashioning some armor made from heavy black metal soon… Essence of Clare Riesling, intensity of fruit, structure and drive, lemon/lime, firm almost dusty texture, fresh squeezed lime and rind with a dash of tonic, great length. Benchmark, I feel. Keep as long as you can, or drink now with something salty and tasty.
Very attractive lime citrus with a fresh and cooler herbal edge to the nose. It leads to a distinctive lime and green-apple palate with taut, fine acid drive. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
