DESCRIPTION
  • Mandala is the vision of the Smedley family of Melbourne. An estate vineyard in Yarra Junction was planted in 1999, with additional vineyards following in Dixons Creek. Specialising in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Mandala wines are high quality, elegant and exceptional value.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

Destemmed and transferred into an open screen press, pressed off and transferred to barrel with high solids, no batonage. 100% natural ferment, with 20% malolactic fermentation.

    TASTING NOTE

Bursting lime zest, fresh peach and apricot aromas are lifted with notes of almond and savoury tones. A crisp, sherbet acidity leads to a silky mid-palate texture that rounds out with soft notes of lemon, nutty nougat and French oak.

  • REVIEWS

'Reserved, faintly nutty lees and sulfide bouquet, smoky and creamy, with evident oak. The palate is dry and savoury, clean, intense and lingering, with a trace of phenolic grip. Very good wine. '

'Chardonnay from Dixon’s Creek in the Yarra Valley. All fermented wild. 20% mlf. Bottled in November 2017 so it wasn’t in oak for any great long time. Low alcohol style though it serves up a decent amount of flavour. This is good to drink. It tastes of pears and peaches, citrus too, with oatmeal and custard-cream aspects cooing over the top. It’s not a punchy or weighty style but it’s juicy and more-ish. There’s a whisper of stuck match too; not much but enough. Nice one. '
