  • Marius et Jeannette is a classic French romance movie, set in the Riviera, that has a tag line of 'delicate, deceptively simple, and quite delicious.' Who knew then that the screenwriters could have anticipated their words would apply so appropriately to its namesake Rose wine from the South of France some three decades later.

More than appropriate, the 2017 Marius & Jeannette Rose is a classic, southern, sun-drenched Rose from the Sud de France, that hits all the right notes and leaves nothing out of place. It's great, was a smash-hit at our internal tasting panel and for the money, we think you will be hard pressed finding a more crowd-pleasing style of wine than this. There's fruit a plenty, and a zingy lick of acidity that keeps this refreshing for a Summer tipple.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

100% Grenache based Rose from Languedoc. Badet-Clement who produced this wine, are internationally recognised for some of their top-tier French labels like Les Jamelles and Abbotts & Delaunay.

This wine is produced from Grenache grapes grown on 15 to 20-year-old vines planted on clay limestone soils in the Languedoc region, between Montpellier and Sète, near the Mediterranean coast. Grenache is a quite rare grape variety which gives the best of itself when it grows in arid regions. The climate in this region is hot, dry and very sunny. The yields are low (65hl/ha).

After a direct pressing, an extensive racking of the must takes place in order to obtain a very clear juice. The juice is then vinified as a white wine and fermented at low temperature (15°C). For this Grenache, there is no malolactic fermentation.

    TASTING NOTES

With its nice pale pink colour, it is a very bell-balanced wine, fresh, vivid and round, with fruity flavours.

    Tim S

'A delightfully crisp yet understated Rose to enjoy through our hot Summer'
    Andrew M

'This French style rose is light and delicate. It's not meant to be a fruity full flavoured style. I enjoyed it but if you're after something sweet or that packs a punch try something else'
    Kim C

'I’m not much of a wine connoisseur however found this wine easy to drink, crisp taste, not too sweet and good variance in flavours - would certainly recommend to anyone who enjoys a Rosè.'
