'The wine has naked power that builds relentlessly across the length of the palate and searching aftertaste.'
96 Points - James Halliday (2016 Vintage)
Sourced from the western Mountadam High Eden vineyard planted by David Wynn in 1968.
On release, this Eden Valley Riesling is pale in colour with a green hue. The wine has lifted aromas of citrus blossom, lemon and jasmine flowers. An underlying dried herb character adds to the wines allure.
The 2017 growing season can be characterised as being long and cool. Good winter rains provided good moisture in the soil. January and February were cooler than normal and March was on average 2 - 3 degrees C warmer than average. The result allowed a slow development of flavours in the grapes and as a result 2017 will rival other stand-out Eden Valley Riesling years.
The palate shows all the hallmarks of an Eden Valley Riesling. It has lashings of lemon and lime juice characters throughout. More subtle characters of dried herbs and perfume add to the complexity of the wine. The wine builds in intensity and finishes with fresh natural acidity and typically Eden valley minerality.

'From low-yielding vines planted in '68. The wine has naked power that builds relentlessly across the length of the palate and searching aftertaste. The lemon and Meyer lemon flavours have a hint of lime juice, but are definitely Eden Valley.'
