  • THE BRIEF
  • Bump up the credit card limit and cancel your plans - a big Eden Valley Mystery Cabernet has just landed here at My Wine Guy and you'll want to know about it. A real flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, from an exceptional vintage, and made by a well-known Barossan family of growers turned winemakers with a portfolio of luscious reds.

Sure, mystery wines are a dime a dozen these days, but usually they're wines with overinflated RRPs and points from yet another made-up wine show. But not today. Instead, this wine is selling for $60 at the (currently open 9-5 Monday to Friday, there's a clue) Barossa cellar door right now. And it has 96 points from James Halliday himself, who recommends you 'relax and enjoy it'. The rest is a mystery, but what we can say is that this Cabernet was made in a classic fashion, with 18 months in French oak and the final blend a selection of the best barrels.

  • WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

This is magnificently fruited and lifted on the nose showing blackcurrant, dark cherry, tobacco, cedar and dark spice aromas, followed by a wonderfully weighted palate that offers excellent power and intensity. It’s mouthfilling and delicious, gorgeously framed by fine, chalky tannins
