MIKE BENNIE - THE WINE FRONT
Paolo Scavino was founded 1921 and there’s an air of the stripey, English-tailored shirt ilk of Barolo producers at this historical winery. The fruit for this wine comes off a 50-year-old-or-so vineyard. Attractive choc-cherry scents with aromas of amaro, brambles, dried herb. The palate is fine and firmed with elegant tannins, long in flavour, dark cherry and savoury characters, drives with excellent texture and finishes with light chew and pleasing, faint sweetness of fruit. Very charming, neat and tidy wine this, well put together and with high drinkability.
