TarraWarra Estate is best known for exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, alongside other single-block heritage varietals and estate blends. Their wines express the unique terroir of the TarraWarra Estate site in the Yarra Valley, which is comprised of 28 individual blocks and planted with carefully selected clones, each of which contributes distinctive characteristics to their wines. Under the watchful eye of winemaker Clare Halloran, all of TarraWarra Estate’s wines are meticulously grown, handpicked, vinified and aged on the estate.
TarraWarra Estate’s two flagship wines are made from classic Burgundy varietals, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which are particularly suited to the Yarra Valley’s cool climate.
Made with the same approach as the Reserve wine, this wine is produced from a different selection of fruit parcels and barrel combinations.
The fruit was picked from various blocks with vines aged between 21 and 33 years old, grown on high north facing slopes to maximize sunshine hours. Northerly winds from Long Gully provide good air flow and favourable micro-climates across the Estate.
The 2016 wines are distinctive for their full flavour from the warmer season, and this is no exception. It displays lifted raspberry aromas, with a hint of earthiness and subtle oak. The flavours combine full fruit with fine long tannins, finishing with the elegance and finesse that is the hallmark of TarraWarra Pinot Noir
TarraWarra Estate was established in 1983 by Marc and Eva Besen with a vision to producing wines of great quality and integrity amidst a welcoming and beautiful location. JOHN FORDHAM - THE SUNDAY TELEGRAPH
'Thankfully our Aussie pinot noirs are gradually displaying a step-up in flavour dimension from the so-so 'lolly water' efforts of the past when the variety struggled for recognition. This Yarra Valley effort is all about full flavour, elegance and smoothness.'
