'Beautiful, pure, crystalline wine. Lemon, lime leaf, star jasmine discreetly in the background, stony texture. A great bottle of Eden Valley Riesling'
94+ Points - Gary Walsh
Tim Smith is a Barossa Valley-based winemaker and one of Australia’s most awarded boutique producers. He focuses on making wines from the Barossa region’s time proven varietals of Mourvedre (locally called Mataro), Grenache and Shiraz, and also sources exceptional parcels of Shiraz, Riesling and Viognier fruit from Eden Valley.
All Tim Smith wines are made with small select parcels of high quality fruit and are made in small batches of 250-700 cases. The mantra for the brand is that if it does not bear the Tim Smith ‘Thumbprint’ then it is does not meet the quality standard. In term's of Tim's Riesling, it is sourced from a near 100 year old set of vines in the Eden Valley, meaning incredible concentration and power.
The fruit for the Tim Smith Wines Riesling is hand-picked and comes from a single low-yielding vineyard planted in 1922, at an elevation of 450m above sea level.
Tim Smith’s Eden Valley Riesling is packaged in the new Eden Valley Wine Producers proprietary bottle. The proprietary bottle has been introduced by Eden Valley Wine Producers to give Eden Valley Riesling an identifiable strategic point of difference.
'Such bargains still to be had with South Australian Rieslings. Beautiful, pure, crystalline wine. Lemon, lime leaf, star jasmine discreetly in the background, stony texture (and if there was such a thing, smell), good amount of lemon/lime flavour, without compromising its elegant styling. Finish is long and spotless. It fairly sparkles. Here’s a great bottle of Eden Riesling.'
